Mainland Domestic Tickets

Mainland Domestic Tickets are for the journeys between Mainland stations. For example, a journey from Hong Kong to Xi'an requires a "Hong Kong – Zhengzhoudong" Cross Boundary Ticket and a "Zhengzhou – Xi'anbei" Mainland Domestic Ticket.

Tickets bought at the Ticketing Counters operated by China Railway (Hong Kong) Holdings Ltd. will be treated as tickets paid by in cash in the ticketing system regardless of payment methods

1 Paper tickets can still be used in a limited number of Mainland stations. If you buy these tickets through 12306 online ticketing platform and plan to collect them at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, please use the Reimbursement Receipt Collection Machines. Alternatively, you can collect the ticket at the designated Ticketing Counters operated by China Railway (Hong Kong) Holding Ltd. with a service fee similar to ticket purchase. The Reimbursement Receipt Collection Machines only accept original Home Return Permit, PRC Resident Identity Card and Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents

After-sales Services

After-sales services of Mainland Domestic Tickets are slightly different from Cross Boundary Tickets. For details, please visit www.12306.cn.

Alterations and refunds can be processed on www.12306.cn, China Railway 12306 mobile app, or at the designated Ticketing Counters at Mainland stations. Holders of PRC Resident Identity Card can also process refund at Ticket Machines in selected Mainland stations.

Besides, you may also alter or refund your tickets via designated Ticketing Counters operated by China Railway (Hong Kong) Holdings Ltd. at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. The transaction will be settled with RMB. Service fees for each altered ticket is HKD20.

Reimbursement Receipt

Starting from 1 November 2024, the Reimbursement Receipt for Mainland Domestic Tickets will be changed to the electronic version. Passenger can obtain it through the 12306 online ticketing platform within 180 days after completing their journey, alteration, or refund process. The electronic Reimbursement Receipt can be downloaded and printed multiple times; however, once the electronic version is issued, paper receipt cannot be obtained, and vice versa.

During the transition period, passengers can continue to use the paper Reimbursement Receipts collected at the Reimbursement Receipt Collection Machine* or designated ticketing counters (with the same service charge as ticket purchase) in Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, ticket machines or designated ticketing counters in the Mainland Stations for tickets dated on or before 30 September 2025.

Reimbursement receipt is not a proof of travel and cannot be used for boarding.

*Only original documents of the Home Return Permit, PRC Resident Identity Card, and the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents are accepted

Ticket purchased by cash:

  1. Alteration or refund must be processed at the designated ticketing counters in the station
  2. Verified 12306 registered users can apply ticket refund through the 12306 online ticketing platform. The refunded fare can then be collected at the designated ticketing counters within 180 days from the date of refund by presenting the identification document used for the ticket purchase

Ticket which the paper Reimbursement Receipt has been collected:

  1. Alteration or refund must be processed at the designated ticketing counter in the station after returning the paper Reimbursement Receipt

Passengers travelling on the High Speed Rail shall comply with the requirements under applicable laws and regulations (including Hong Kong laws or Mainland China laws) and the Conditions of Issue of Tickets. Cross-boundary passengers shall comply with the Rules for Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Rail Cross-Boundary Passenger Transport, and all notices posted at stations or MTR website. Non-cross-boundary passengers shall comply with the Mainland Regulations for Transportation of Railway Passengers and all relevant rules and regulations, and all notices posted at stations or 12306 China Railway website.
