Ticketing tips from KOL

High Speed Rail connects to various travel hotspots on the Mainland. Now you can enjoy a hassle-free journey with E-tickets. Simply pass through the gates with your travel document before you take the train.
Before embarking on your journey, let's take a few minutes to watch a video from a travel expert, sharing his experiences in ticketing processes and travel arrangements.
Notes:
- Standby ticket: Any 12306 registered user who has passed facial verification on the mobile app can queue for a standby ticket (on Chinese platform) when tickets are sold out. The user can choose from 10 different Classes of Travel and set a waiting time. The highest fare will be charged in advance. The fare difference will be refunded if a ticket of a lower Class of Travel is bought finally. In case of unsuccessful purchase, a full refund will be received.
- Children travelling for free: Any child aged below 6 who does not occupy a seat can travel free of charge. The identification document of the child must be registered upon ticket purchase. Each adult can register for free travel of one child only. This video explains how to register for free travel of a child with 12306. Please provide the original copy of the identification document of the child for processing when buying the ticket at a Ticket Agent or a Ticketing Counter in station. If you buy the ticket at a Ticket Machine, click on the “Declaration of children travelling for free” button on the main page after the purchase and scan the original copy of the identification document of the adult who has bought the ticket, then scan the original copy of the identification document of the child travelling for free to complete the registration.
