Foreign Nationals Enjoy 240-Hour Visa-free Transit in the Mainland

To facilitate foreign travellers visiting the Mainland, the National Immigration Administration has enhanced the Visa-free Transit Policy. Eligible travellers can now enjoy the 240‑Hour (10‑day) Visa‑free Transit Policy, making it easier than ever to visit major tourist destinations across the Mainland.

【Key Points of 240-Hour Visa-free Transit Policy】

Eligible nationalities

Applicable to citizens of 55 designated countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and more

Travel requirements

Travellers must hold a valid international travel document and a confirmed onward ticket with fixed date and seat for departure within 240 hours from the Mainland to a third country or region¹，Example: Canada → Hong Kong → Shenzhen → Thailand

Ports of entry

On‑site visa‑free transit applications are available at 65 designated ports of entry, including Hong Kong West Kowloon Station²

Length and scope of stay

Successful applicants may stay for up to 10 days within the designated area. During this period, activities such as tourism, business, and family visits are permitted

With High Speed Rail, you may enjoy multi‑destination journeys across the Mainland for a richer and more flexible travel experience.

¹Destination must be different from the departure country or region. Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan are considered as eligible onward destinations.
